NME Editor’s verdict: When a truly special band comes along, it’s magical. Don’t get me wrong there’s a lot of great music about, but the truly special bands of their time, bands that say something about who we are today. It’s about seeing a band for the first time and knowing they have the potential to unite millions – Oasis, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys. Glasvegas are just such a band.

Fuck?!!
If you take to wallowing in self pity (alright, so i’ve been there), and still have the weight of the world on your poor shoulders because your pet hamster didn’t appreciate you then fine, go listen to this lot. Not only is the plodding depression of Geraldine enough to make you give up on the rest of the day, to hear the butchering of an already crap song (Everybody’s got to learn sometime) just tops it right off. In a way, that does take some genius.
